What is Choral Students 4 Change (CS4C)?
Choral Students 4 Change is a student-founded and student-led group with the ultimate goal of addressing inequities, lack of representation, and ultimate refusal of change within choral spaces. Music and singing is such a powerful outlet, and for this to continue, there has to be real, tangible changes to these spaces. These spaces have to actively welcome students of color and other marginalized individuals and create spaces with more comfortability. They have to work to represent these identities beyond the classroom but also through directors and powerful figures within music. Through initiatives like our blog, podcast, webinars, and social media, we are actively working to tell the stories of choral students while advocating for more representation. We hope that through our student-led initiatives and operations on social media in which we advocate for more equity and representation for people of color in choral spaces.
Tell the Stories of Students.
Through our podcast, blog, and more we tell the experiences of choral students which allow others to understand how we go through these spaces.
Learn From the Experts.
We hope to host webinars in the future that showcase choral directors of color who will not only tell their stories but offer their expertise and guidance within the world of music.

Ike is a rising senior who has created change within her own community and has found a deep passion for equity. She created her school's first-ever Black Student Union, worked with community organizations to establish equity within her own town, and currently operates a building called Community Cookies in which she creates cookie bars and gives back a portion of the revenue to local equity-focussed community organizations. In choir, she has been involved since middle school and has been involved in the All-State and recently All-Eastern choirs in her high school career. She hopes that through creating this group she can combine her love for music with her passion for equity to create long-lasting change.
